Q: How long does the inspection take?
Answer: The exact time will depend on the size, condition, and characteristics of your potential home. More
time is required for larger homes and for older homes. Most appointments are completed within 3 hours.
However, if the home is larger, older or more complex, it may take longer.
Q: Do I have to attend the inspection?
Answer: No, it is not required that you attend the inspection. However, there are many benefits to
attending the inspection. You will have the opportunity to ask questions. And attending the
inspection will provide you insight on the home's current condition and also the maintenance requirements
for the home.
Q: Can a home "fail" an inspection?
Answer: A home does not "pass" or "fail" an inspection. A home inspector is an unbiased and objective
person who is trained and experienced to detect issues in a home. The inspection report will inform you
of defects and damages that were found. You should be fully informed of the condition of the home so that you
can make a good, well-informed buying decision. You can then decide to continue with your home purchase, negotiate
repairs with the seller, and/or request an adjustment in the selling price.
Q: Have I wasted my money if the home inspection doesn't uncover any issues?
